March 20, 2000
A great university tradition, the legendary Speakers Corner returned to Mac
Hall today as the Campus Alliance hosted a Speakers Corner debate along side Provincial PC

- MODEL PARLIAMENT A SUCCESS:
CANADIAN ALLIANCE MAJORITY GOVERNMENT
March 10th & 11th, 2000.
Model Parliament was an astonishing success as the Canadian Alliance Majority Government
passed three bills (out of three proposed) and quite simply had a great time. Bills passed
included Solution 17 (a 17% flat tax), a reaffirmation of private and provincial rights,
an elected Senate, a new Supreme Court, Constitutional Court and a call for respect for
human rights in Tibet and across the world. This year's participants joined real-life
political parties, drafted legislation, presented it to the House of Commons, debated it,
and finally voted on it. Question Period had quite a flair for the dramatic. This year's
Model Parliament was a bit more serious than it was last year, but there was still plenty
of room for humor and fun. This years model parliament was sponsored by the Sir Winston
Churchill Society of Calgary.

- Who the hell is Frank Klees?
Frank Klees, Ontario Cabinet Minister and now Canadian Alliance Leadership

the hell is Frank Klee's" also was considered an astonishing success in attracting

Klees was an excellent speaker and it was an honor to host the event.
